How to Prevent and Treat Headaches Without Medication

  • Aromatherapy – Rub peppermint essential oil on your temples to treat a tension headache or dab a little lavender oil under your nose for a migraine. 
  • Cold compress – A chilled, damp washcloth or even some ice on the forehead can interrupt the progress of a headache, especially if you catch it early. 
  • Headache diary – Identifying your headache triggers can help you avoid them in the first place. Keep track of your diet, sleep habits, and screen time to see if you notice any patterns.
  • Fresh pineapple – The enzyme found in pineapple, bromelain, has pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties that may help ease headaches.
