PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy

PRP injections (Platelet-Rich Plasma) can help heal a multitude of ailments that range from sports-related injuries such as arthritis in joints, tendonitis in muscles, and partial tears in ligaments. It also is a beneficial therapy for combating signs of aging or scarring in facial tissues due to loss of collagen, pigmentation changes from sun exposure, and acne.  PRP is also used for alopecia (hair loss) in the scalp.

Platelets are the essential part of your blood and are responsible for prevention of bleeding and blood clotting. PRP consists of a concentrated amount of platelets that contain many growth factors. Blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge, and the plasma and concentrated platelets are removed from the separated blood product. When concentrated and injected in an affected area, PRP can enhance healing at the site of the disease or injury.

PRP Therapy Applications

Orthopedic Diseases

PRP therapy can help with orthopedic diseases such as osteoarthritis of many joints, tendonitis, rotator cuff tears, ACL tears, plantar fasciitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, ankle sprains, ligament injuries, skin rejuvenation, alopecia, and many other conditions. Depending on the condition being treated, a certain amount of blood will be drawn using the same technique as mentioned above. This procedure is minimally invasive and can be done the day of consultation.

Facial Therapy

Face and neck revitalization can also be accomplished through use of platelet rich plasma (PRP). PRP has many growth factors and cytokines that can increase collagen growth and enhance wound healing. In turn, the process of microneedling and small dermatologic injections with PRP can decrease the signs of aging and decrease the appearance of scars from trauma and acne. Other skin processes that can be improved through this therapy includes hyperpigmentation, fine lines, large pores, and skin laxity.

Hair Regeneration

PRP can increase the dermal papillae cells and enhance the hair growth pathways in the scalp. Studies have shown the use of PRP can increase hair follicles formed throughout the scalp. Multiple treatments may be needed depending on each case and the amount of hair loss. For example, tiny microinjections of PRP are administered to the scalp. Then, a microneedle roller is used on the scalp. The leftover PRP is then applied on the affected area. You will also be given multiple hair stimulating products and tools for in-between treatments to use at home.
